Novak’s Great Improvement
Every Tennis fan in the world has been amazed with the vast improvement of Novak Djokovic's game in the past year. He has a chance of breaking some of the longest winning streaks in ATP history (Guillermo Villa 47 match streak). In my opinion what started this amazing streak was the great improvement in Novak's serve. In 2010 there was statistic said during the US Open that he actually averaged more double faults then aces. However as you can clearly see this year Novak has made some adjustments with his serving game and he is able to come out of the starting gates more aggressive than he ever has been.
Without looking at the foot fault in this picture it is clear that Novak's serve has been his greatest improvement. With some extra mph's on his serve he is able to create more opportunities right off the serve then he ever has been able too. In an interview he said "I was struggling in the last year and a half with that element of my game and I was working really hard, so that hard work is paying off now. With a good service you can get some free points which is really important at this level." Having a solid serve is extremely important at the professional level. For example when John Isner was playing Rafael Nadal in the epic first round match at Roland Garros he used his serve very effectively against Nadal who was hanging back on his return too much. Isner using his height to get a larger trajectory on the ball was able to create many serve and volley opportunities.
Novak certainly has shocked the tennis world with this amazing improvement, now the question is what does Rafa or Federer have to say to this newly dominating player? The answer is "not much", Nadal and Federer both have not been able to stop Novak's dominating sweep this year. Although they both might get a chance in france within the next few days.
